Make your own cough syrup (from onion and honey)

The scientific results of a 2020 review also indicate that honey may be helpful for acute cough.

And it’s as simple as that:

  1. Peel an onion, cut it into small pieces and put the pieces in a glass or cup and pour 2 tablespoons of liquid honey over it
  2. Leave to infuse for a few hours or preferably overnight and then pour off the resulting liquid
  3. Ready is your homemade cough syrup, which you can take several times a day on a spoon

Hot ginger tea
Not for nothing one of the main ingredients of the Indian healing art Ayurveda. In addition to the pleasant warming effect of the tuber, the essential oils and pungent substances of ginger can strengthen the immune system, have an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and expectorant effect.

How to make the ginger tea itself:

  1. Cut a thumb-thick piece from a ginger bulb
  2. Peel it and cut it into small pieces, the smaller the pieces the more intense the taste (tip: make sure to remove the peel as thinly as possible, the effective substances are located directly under the peel, if you buy organic ginger, you can also leave the peel on).
  3. Put the cut pieces in a cup and pour boiling water, if you like add honey and lemon.

Salt water
It can be so simple. Salt is a small miracle cure for stuffy noses, not for nothing there are nasal sprays with saline solution to buy in many places, yet it is so easy to make yourself. Simply dissolve about 1 gram of salt per 100 ml in water and pour into a spray bottle. Alternatively, you can inhale, dissolve the salt in the same proportion in a bowl of hot water, throw a towel over your head and inhale deeply and evenly.
